事出必有因，平白無故事情是不會憑空蹦出來的。想想，如果沒有「火」，又怎麼可能跑出「煙」來呢？英文裡說”there’s no smoke without fire”就是這個意思，而這句英文也頗能傳達中文裡「無風不起浪」的喻意。

Joe：I think the whole company is talking about the affair between our MD and the director now.

Joe：我覺得現在好像全公司都在傳總經理跟總監的緋聞耶。

Vivian：But it’s just a rumor. You know how much people like to gossip about simply everything possible!

Vivian：但那只是謠傳啦。你也知道，大家有多愛把所有事情都拿來八卦一下了。

Joe：I do believe there’s some truth in it this time. They were seen shopping together at SOGO a couple of weeks ago.

Joe：我倒覺得這次的真實性滿高的。幾個禮拜前，他們倆還被看到一起在SOGO逛街呢。

Vivian：So? We go out shopping with our colleagues from time to time.

Vivian：那又怎樣？我們也常跟同事一起去逛街啊。

Joe：They both took leave at the same time last month.

Joe：上個月，他們倆同時排休假。

Vivian：It’s perhaps just a coincidence.

Vivian：那也可能只是個巧合罷了。

Joe：No, I don’t think so. Even people are gossipy, there’s no smoke without fire. The problem is both are married with a family…I will try to find out what’s going on.

Joe：我可不這麼認為。就算大家很八卦，無風又怎會起浪啊。問題就在於雙方都已婚有家庭了……。我要來調查一下這到底怎麼回事。

Vivian：Hey, if you handle all your projects like this, you’ll get everything done perfectly in no time.

Vivian：嘿，要是你對自己的案子都能這麼認真處理的話，每件事你一定都能三兩下就做得妥妥當當了。

Joe：Are you saying that I’m not hard-working?

Joe：你是說我工作不夠認真囉？
